At the tender age of five, Atindra embarked on his journey into Indian classical vocal music, beginning with basic formal training under the nurturing guidance of his mother, Smt. Vrinda Sarvadikar (a recipient of the Adarsh Shikshak Puraskar). This foundation laid the groundwork for his passion. 

  • His musical journey deepened with further systematic guidance from the late Shri. Dattusingh Gaherwar, a disciple of the renowned Padmabhushan Pt. Vinayakrao Patwardhan, spanning from 1994 to 2004. 

 

  • In 2003, at the age of 18, Atindra's musical odyssey entered a new phase under the mentorship of the esteemed Swarayoginee, Dr. Prabha Atre. A luminary in the realm of music, Dr. Prabha Atre's illustrious career encompassed roles as a virtuoso performer, profound thinker, prolific composer, revered author, dedicated researcher, visionary academician, and revered Guru of music. Decorated with prestigious accolades including the Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan, Padma Vibhushan, Sangeet Natak Academy Fellowship, Maharashtra Bhushan, and Kalidas Sanman, Prabha-ji epitomized excellence in Music. Over the course of 21 years until her passing on January 24, 2024, Her role as academician was trendsetting. Atindra had the privilege of closely associated with Guru Prabha-ji, undergoing rigorous training across all facets of music under her watchful eyes.

Qualifications:

  1. PhD (Music) – Dr Atindra Sarvadikar has the honour of being awarded the very first PhD degree in Music from the University of Mumbai. (Research topic: "किराणा घराण्यातील बदलत्या प्रवाहांचा विश्लेषणात्मक अभ्यास", Declared eligible for the PhD degree on 02/05/2016.

  2. Qualified for the ‘National Eligibility Test (NET)’ in Music subject (05/11/2017)

  3. 'Graded artist of All India Radio' in the Hindustani classical vocal music as well light vocal music categories (Regular broadcasts from Akashwani Mumbai)

His Voice:

​

​Atindra is blessed with the aberrant voice. His mellifluous, littile husky voice is unique, rich, soul-searching, and soothing with tremendous power, stretching over an amazingly wide range of 3 octaves. An emotionally expressive and musically correct voice ideally suited to the contemporary acoustic environment governed by electronic amplification and sound processing. His vocalizing is in perfect diction and clarity. Besides the styles of Khayal and Thumri, Atindra is equally adept with genres of Bhajan, Gazals, Bhavgeet, Sufi, Fusion Music, Light Music as well as film & cross cultural music.

Major Achievements in some reputed competitions

During school and college time received total 28 state-level awards in various reputed competitions. Some noteworthy are –

  • 1st Prize & Gold medal, State Level Competition – Natya Sangeet - MES Education Society Solapur.  Year 1997, 1999 & 2000 (thrice)

  • 1 Prize at central youth festival September2003at Karad – Indian Classical Vocal Music. Organized by UGC

  • 1st Prize in central youth festival 2005 at Kolhapur - Indian Classical as well light Vocal Music. Organized by UGC

  • 2nd Prize Maharshtra rajya Krida & Yuvakseva Mahotsav, Malvan, Dec 07.

  • 3rd prize in Indian Classical Music at Amar Kala Mandal Vasai 2010

  • 2nd State level INDRADHANUSHYA youth fest at Dapoli 06

  • 2nd prize at Ashtavinayak pratishthan’s competition Latur 2006

  • Received INNOVATION POPULAR AWARD 2017 in category "Fusion music Activist of the year" instituted by WOCKHARDT FOUNDATION. The winners were selected by public voting and Atindra had received maximum public votes.

Dr. Atindra Sarvadikar made his debut public performance at the tender age of 7 during the Ganesh Festival in Solapur. Since then, he has become a seasoned performer, embarking on frequent tours across India and abroad, gracing numerous prestigious music platforms with his captivating performances. Noteworthy among these are:

    • Invited to perform at prestigious Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Samaroh Pune 2024   

    • Successful one month tour to UK. performed at various places Sept 2009.

    • Sawai Gandharva Smruti Samaroh - Kundagol Karnataka September 2006 and 10th October 2012 (Twice) Organized and in the presence of late Padmavibhushan Gangubai Hangal.
